WHAT ARE YOU LOOKING FOR IN POTENTIAL CLIENTS FOR THE KIM DAWSON AGENCY?
We start by seeking people with professional acting experience, preferably 3 to 5 years for anyone over the age of 25.  If you are under 25, we are looking at your education and experience in non-professional work as an actor.  Letters of recommendation from a well respected acting teacher or coach, or referral by another actor currently represented by the Kim Dawson Agency.  We also are in search of a ‘marketable’ look for the types of roles we are asked to cast.

DO YOU REPRESENT ACTORS WHO LIVE OUTSIDE OF THE DALLAS / FORT WORTH ?
Because of the fast pace of our business we require our clients to live within a 100 miles of the Dallas / Fort worth area.

WHAT SHOULD I SEND YOU TO BE CONSIDERED FOR REPRESENTATION?
To be considered for representation, you should mail us a headshot and resume with a cover letter telling us a little about yourself.  You should also include a video demo, if you have one.  We do not return any material submitted to the agency unless they are accompanied by a self addressed, stamped envelope. 

DO YOU REPRESENT SINGERS OR OTHER TYPES OF MUSICAL PERFORMERS?  WHAT TYPE OF TALENT DO YOU REPRESENT?
No.  We represent only actors, voice-over actors, fashion, print and runway models, convention talent, hair and make-up artists and stylists, and children of all ages.

WILL YOU CALL ME?  SHOULD I CALL YOU?
Because of the volume of submissions we receive on a daily basis, we are unable to contact everyone who submits to us regarding representation.  If we believe you might be a good candidate for representation we will contact you by phone to set up a meeting.  Depending on the volume of our business at the time, we should contact you between 2 to 6 weeks.  In many cases, we will ask you to attend a monologue day with the booking agents.  In this instance, you will need to have a 1-2 minute current comedic monologue that is age appropriate prepared.  You may also be asked to perform a cold read at that time. 

You can follow up to see if your material has been received, but it is not necessary.

We are licensed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation in Austin, Texas.  Our Talent Agency License Number is TALAGY00000216.

DO I NEED TO BE A MEMBER OF A UNION?
You do not need to be a current member of any union to be considered for representation by the Kim Dawson Agency.

WHAT DO YOU CHARGE FOR REPRESENTATION?
We receive a commission from the money you earn.  The percentages differ depending on the type of job.   You are expected, however, to supply the agency with the standard marketing materials (headshots, resumes, demo tapes, etc.) at your expense.

DO YOU ACCEPT SUBMISSIONS VIA E-MAIL?
We absolutely do not accept submissions via e-mail.  We need a hard copy of the resume and photograph, or voice demo, and any e-mailed submissions will be disregarded completely. 

I SUBMITTED A PHOTO AND RESUME SOME TIME AGO AND DIDN’T HEAR FROM YOU.  HOW LONG SHOULD I WAIT TO RESUBMIT?
You can submit again after 6 months, or as soon as you have new pictures, or additional credits on your resume.

HOW DO I GET INTO VOICE-OVERS?
As in all other areas of acting, you need training.  We suggest that you enroll in a voice-over class.  This will give you a good basic understanding of how the voice-over business works.  In most cases upon completion of voice-over class, you will have a voice demo to submit to agents to be considered for representation.

WHAT DO I NEED TO GAIN VOICE-OVER REPRESENTATION?
The Kim Dawson Agency represents experienced voice talent only. We ask that you mail your voice demo to us. The voice-over agent will listen to your demo and if you have a sound that we are currently in need of, we will contact you to set up an appointment.

I HAVE AN ISDN STUDIO AT MY HOME. DO YOU REPRESENT VOICE TALENT THAT LIVES OUTSIDE THE DALLAS AREA WITH ISDN CAPABILITIES?
No, we only represent voice talent that live in the Dallas/ Fort Worth Metroplex.
